The Burgess Hill and District Probus Club was formed for the benefit and pleasure of retired people in the area whom, having had a lifetime working, now find they have time on their hands, and would like to meet others in a similar position. Although initially set up just for men, we now find that the inclusion of our ladies and other guests from time to time, greatly enhances our meetings.
Generally all Probus Clubs are autonomous and choose their own rules and programme. Our programme is such that we meet for lunch on the first Thursday of each month, prior to which we enjoy a drink in the bar. After the meal itself we have a talk from a variety of speakers. The talks are on a wide range of subjects, some local and many of national or international interest. We also organise trips out during the year, including theatre visits and day trips to places of interest, to all of which personal guests are invited.
PROBUS Clubs do not exist to raise money for charity specifically, although some clubs choose to run occasional fund-raising events and raffles, either to support the interests of their speakers, or, to fund particular costs incurred by a charitable event.
Our next meeting
